September Non-beauty Favourites

It's the last day of September, where has the year gone?! It's crazy to think that this time next year I will be in China! This month, I've hardly used any beauty products, mainly because I've not been wearing makeup and been drawn towards the Non-beauty favs. So here they are!

Mind Healing colouring books for adults:
I was very skeptical about buying this. A COLOURING book for ADULTS? Don't be so daft. However, the child in me loved the idea. So of course I bought it. Feeling low and unhappy is one of the worst feelings in the world, And I want to try and do everything in my power to be happy. I know a colouring book is not going to sort that, but it can at least take my mind off my problems for  a little while. I sit down and start colouring, look up and two hours have passed. There's so many of these books around, I got mine off Amazon for £3.99, cheaper than chips! Try it and I guarantee you will love it.
Boden Bunny Slippers:
Size six feet does have its perks! Johnnie B range is on the Boden website/catalogue for up to sixteen year olds, but the shoes go up to a size six. As soon as I seen these cute slippers, I knew I had to get them! So comfy, soft and  great quality.
Goats cheese and black pepper crackers:
Of course I had to add a cracker in the post! If you know me you will know I am literally OBSESSED with crackers. I take an emergency supply everywhere with me. I normally love Krackerwheat from Jacobs, but recently, I've been liking the Crackers from Aldi. As my leaving present from work, I received five packets of different types of crackers, and so far my favourites are the Goats cheese and black pepper variety. Quite strong and stinky but so damn delicious. (I may have demolished the whole packet already.#pig) But I will definitely be going back to repurchase.
Primark tassle bag:
I've seen so many of these bags around in the shops and they are so expensive! I think I purchased this for about £10. It's spacious, I can fit my work lunch, massive purse and maybe even the kitchen sink into the bag. (call me Mary Poppins) It has two straps, so you can either hold it or put over your shoulder and a drawstring to close the bag. I've been using it every single day and love it more and more.

Spotify:
Everyday I listen to music. As soon as I wake up, travelling to work, or getting ready for bed, I have my spotify app on. The huge selection of artists you can choose from is great, and absolutely free to use unless you pay for premium. I can't wait to get a AUX cable for my car so I can start listening through my car speakers. I hardly listen to the radio anymore as I'm on this app. SO good.

'onwards and upwards'

Changing jobs is a scary thing. You don't know if you're going to like it or get on with your colleagues. In the past year, this will be my fourth job. I had been at one of the jobs for four years and decided to leave, but still, four jobs in one year is a bit crazy. But now, having a massive think about my life, career and happiness, leaving this job to actually get into a career, is the best thing to do. Life can be scary, I am a very indecisive person, I make rash decisions and later regret them. (Most of this year has been making awful decisions, I just hope I'm learning from this!) I want to grow as a person, not just my career. A career is everything nowadays, You need to earn money to put food on the table, I have realised I need to grow up, be an adult and pay for bills and work 5 days a week. I have been so used to having part time jobs because of studying, but now is the time to pull them girl pants up and become a woman. You never know where life is going to take you, but life is an adventure, and I must admit, I do like a good adventure.

AND.. RELAX

Recently I have been loving bath salts. Whether it be Radox bath soak or Epsom salts. I strolled through Boots the other day, not wanting to buy anything, (Of course I bought something!) and came across these massive bags of Epsom salts and Dead sea salt. I had already started using Epsom salts in the bath a long time ago, but was recommended to start using dead sea salt as it was very beneficial for the body. At £2.50 a bag, What a bargain! I picked up one of each and have been constantly using them every time I go in the bath.

There is a resealable zip on the bags but when standing in the bathroom, steam can easily absorb into the salts so I decided to put them in my trusty jars that have been empty since I bought them two years ago!! I then used a Christmas gift tag and stuck it on top of the jars to look a bit more snazzy and used a whiteboard marker on the jar to know which one is which.

Bath salts are great for the mind, soul and body. Dead sea salt is very beneficial for fluid retention, stress, skin aging, calms the nervous system and soothes/softens dry itchy skin which is great for Psoriasis. Whilst Epsom salts are great for eliminating toxins from the body, relieves constipation (lovely), excellent when used after exercise and detoxifies.

Westlab's packaging states: 'Chemically pure, Medical grade standard' and with such big bags, will last you a life time! (well maybe not that long.)

Do you use bath salts? What do you think?

film friday: Eat, Pray, Love

If you have read my 'Everything happens for a reason'  post you can probably tell that I have been feeling unhappy. I've been trying everything I can to get out of the deep, dark hole of unhappiness and one of the things that inspired me to book a holiday to China, was watching this film. (Sucks that it is in September but Hey Ho!)

This is the second time I have watched this film and feel like it has really gave me the push to actually do something with my life. Julia Roberts plays such a good role in someone who is so unhappy and seeking happiness. She feels that she is not experiencing life like she should (and in some respects I feel the same, and i'm only 21!) She says in the film that she used to have a love for food and felt that she no longer felt like that, she felt numb about literally everything. Ends her marriage and jumps on a plane to Italy, India and then Bali. I wish I could just drop everything and get on a plane! Unfortunately everything is so damn expensive nowadays! I have always wanted to go to Bali, and this film has made me want to even more!

If you haven't watched this film yet, then I highly recommend you do as it is such a lovely film. You see someone so drained and unhappy, find her true self, love food again and fall in love.

I rate this film: 3.5/5

Icing
Butter (NOT Marg like I used)

'Everything happens for a reason'

I apologise for being MIA recently, it's been a crazy few months. Well year. I have felt the lowest I have EVER felt in my life and to be perfectly honest, struggling. Everyone around me is trying to be  supportive and get me through difficult situations and I'm doing everything I can to get to the 'light at the end of the tunnel.' When people say 'Everything happens for a reason' I just think to myself, Well why has that happened? And then overthink even more. I am writing this post to say, yes sometimes life does suck, and everything does seem like it can go wrong. But here are a few things that have been helping me recently.

Go for walks.
Walking is so good for you. You get to exercise, look at beautiful scenery if you go somewhere nice, like the countryside and unwind. I love to walk, Because i'm stuck in an office 5 days a week, it's great to actually stretch your legs and de stress. And remember, Take plenty of photos!

Get out there.
No matter how much you want to stay in bed all day, get out. Have a pamper session, get your hair restyled (I did.) Go out for nice food. Spend time with family and friends.Go to a concert/gig. (OMG Florence and the machine and Foo Fighters were incredible!)  Doing these things, doesn't necessarily take your mind off your problems completely, but might for a few hours.

Yoga
I have been literally obsessed with going to yoga and body balance every week. It's not only good for you physically but also mentally. Stretches out all your body, makes it strong and makes you sleepy at the end! I love going with my friend as well so we can laugh at each other falling over.

Write it down.
Recently, I bought myself a rather large notepad. Nothing fancy (that's if you call a leather notepad fancy), and i've been starting to write. Whether it be a shopping list, a bucket list, things to do in the future, or just a plain old diary style. Some days I write down every problem or anxious feeling in a diary style way and some days I just write things that i'm grateful for. And strangely enough it really helps.

Talk to people.
When you feel down, the best thing to do is open up. Since I was young I was always told  that when i'm upset I must show my feelings. (Hate it!!) Some people can hold it in, I wish I could, but can't. But then in a way, this is good because I get to let it out and I have a great support from my best friends and family. Sometimes I do feel, How many people do I have to tell to feel better?

Book a holiday.
So I have done something crazy. Something spontaneous. Something even my favourite saying YOLO, has made me even scared to say. I'm going on holiday. On my own. Next year. To... CHINA! I am so excited, but so unbelievably scared and anxious. I wish I could just jump on the plane now. But little inpatient  me, is going to have to wait.

What are your tips and tricks for happiness when you're feeling low?
